The Phantom Menace or...

An interminable series of cutaways and reaction shots. And no more than 10 seconds of two people acting in the same frame at the same time.

That's all I have to say about this utter piece of shit film.

In terms of acting and dialogue, the 3 prequels are right on par with the "classics", which are just much older pieces of shit.

I'm Luke Skywalker and I'm here to rescue you!

Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"

No no no.
You see, aside from A New Hope, the rest of the OT was directed by different directors. Most notably Empire Strikes Back by Irvin Kershner who somehow managed to take mediocre actors (Harrsion Ford excluded) and make them look good. Lucas, and his CGI generated soul, cares not for the human condition, nor it's portrayal on screen. Hence, a series of different takes of the same scene, hacked together with no effort to make it seem otherwise.

I see your point. But they were all penned by Lucas, no? Really... I don't know. (I'm not as nerdy as I pretend to be.)

Don't you think stupid dialogue (3PO's head being dragged by R2 as he says, "What a drag" being a prime example) is what contributes most to the poor results?

I'm sure we can at least agree that if half as much time had been spent on creating characters with a bit more depth as was spent on CGI effects... we'd probably be talking about 6 of the greatest films of all time.
