Woah woah woah...
Wasn't this the head of just the Atlanta chapter of the NAACP who said this? I don't think this is a top down, nationally endorsed statement.
Secondly, wouldn't you say it's a pretty big leap to say that someone supports crime if they suggest we wait until the facts are in? Bit of a stretch, LC.
But, hey, if I missed the original article (because so far this seems to be living solely in the blogosphere) point me in the right direction.
Oh, and skip everything I just said, too. If I saw Vick crossing the street right now, I honestly believe I'd have a sudden case of out-of-control-speeding-car-with-magical-brake-failure.
Yeah, I hear you. Here's the article from Rueters:

No, it just pissed me off because just because the guy is black, the NAACP comes running out of the woodwork to defend him. And I'm sorry, with the NFL's record of late with players and their god-complexes, I felt pretty safe in assuming that the guy was guilty. It's not about Race. It's about professional athletes doing shit that they think they can get away with because they're professional athletes. It's shitty and it needs to fucking stop.
DOG Fighting for christ's sake.
And don't even get me started on the impact this has on the Pit Bull reputation as an inherently vicious breed and the unfair prejudicial euthanizing that goes on.
I don't mean to get all PETA on everyone.
I just love dogs.
I didn't mean to sound picky, either. I agree with you on absolutely every point -
from the ridiculous knee-jerk reaction to yell "race" whenever it suits somebody,
to the continued bad press for what are in the majority of cases good dogs,
and more tragically, the example this sets to a vast number of uneducated, morally deprived kids who look up to these sports stars. Be like me, kids - a rich, gangsta dog-killa.
As for the assuming of guilt... who am I kidding. Nobody needs to wait two years for some lawyer to proudly announce a half-assed plea bargain. If this guy walks, I'm movin' to Canada.
OK, I love your blog, but I just about started crying the second I logged on. This is why I don't watch the news.
Earlier this morn, I saw an ad in the paper for one of the local athletic store chains, called BIG 5 SPORTING GOODS, carrying a "Vick" Nike football shoe. I am never going to that store again.
I also saw the Reverend Al Sharpton on CNN defending this scumbag. Apparently Sharpton is not yet familiar with the term "guilt by association"... which is something, based on his past track record, he should be INTIMATELY familiar with.
As to Brad's comment, you better get your passport and visa ready, because he's gonna skate with a fine. You know it, I know it, and his lawyers sure as fuck know it.
