The Taxi Boycott
That's it.
I've had it and I am done with Chicago Taxis. For that matter, I'm done with all Taxis.
In the majority of my experiences I've encountered drivers who rip me off, their cabs fucking stink, and quite honestly most of them have been assholes.
They're not supposed to be on the goddamned phone, and they are.
They're supposed to accept credit cards...actually, they're required by law to do so, and they give excuses such as:
-My machine is broken
-I don't take them because I won't get paid until next week.
-You're not going far enough.
And most of them drive like total assholes.
Also, when they ask me "which way would you like to go?" and I say, "Hmm, I'm not sure, what do you think will be quickest?" and they get all impatient and say "I don't know" or just shrug...THEY ARE NOT DOING THEIR FUCKING JOB.
Enough.
Fuck you Cabs.
Just fuck you.
I'm taking the goddamned bus.

Hi, I used to drive a cab in Chicago a long time ago. Your comments are very unfair. In fact, you should really try driving a cab yourself for a while. It would be an enlightening experience.
Its obviously May. During the nice weather in Chicago, everybody tells cabbies to go fuck themselves. But what happens in January, when you're freezin your tootsies off waiting for a bus? Then, when you pick people up they say "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!!!"
Foul-weather friends!
Being a cabbie is 20 times more dangerous than being a police officer.
Back when I was cabbie, they didn't take credit cards at all. That must be a total nightmare.
The thing that I hated the most as a cabbie was that you were "required" to pick up any maniac who flagged you down. What a joke! If a cabbie picked up everyone who flagged them down, they would live about 1 week.
What a joke! They should make the whole pack of do-nothing bozos in the city government go out and try to survive as cab drivers. You don't get a salary. You have to live by your wits to make enough to survive, and then you have to worry about getting robbed and shot.
You're lucky that there are even people desperate enough to be cabdrivers. They usually have to import slaves to do the job. Oops! Not supposed to call them slaves!
Cordially,
Jack W. Orf
Hey, you know what? No one forces anyone to do any of the jobs they do. That's what's great about this country.
And not everyone tells Cabbies to "go fuck themselves."
I always tip a dollar or more on any fare...where most cabbies can expect nothing more than MAYBE half that. I am always courteous when I get into a cab. I even tip well when they're dicks.
I understand that they do a service. And no, they don't have to pick up anyone who flags them down. I've been refused a bunch. Especially if they're "on their way home and I'm going in the wrong direction". That's happened in January as well.
You seem to have done a lot of jobs. That's great. good for you.
Question. How do you feel about Telemarketers? Personally, I fucking hate them.
And GASP. I WAS one. TWICE.
I was also a waiter, a host, a teacher, a stage hand, a cashier, a secretary, and a whole bunch of other "customer service" related jobs. And I have beefs with all of them as well.
You don't do your job? I don't patronize your business.
Simple.
And I'm the FIRST to "put myself in someone else's shoes" about stuff like this. I'm just fed up, and I have an opinion about it, and here's where I put it.
Thanks for continuing to read my ridiculousness though.
