A Social Justice-y Conundrummmmmm....
As representatives of two of the (oxymoron alert) biggest minority groups in the land, If neither Obama or Hilary win the election, can they cry "Discrimination" and completely turn the American Election System on it's ear??
For I have heard oft and too much
"This country's people aren't ready for a female or black president".
Tocro?
Thoughts?

I don't know that they could cry discrimination as far as the electoral process is concerned (although it is a truly messed up system for many, many reasons). They could call discrimination against the American people, and honestly, they would probably be right. As it stands, winning or losing, any person of color or woman could call discrimination and pretty much be dead on because of the way the society is set up. But I don't think there could be an actual 'call to arms' about discrimination if they don't win, unless it is stated somewhere that they are not ALLOWED to win because of color or sex.
But like all things, attention will be brought to it, right or wrong, and it will start discussions. But as it is, it scares me that those are the two leading contenders for the Presidency, not because I don't think either one could do it, but because one is a black man and one is a white woman. There is a time for social progression, absolutely, and I am stand behind positive social change, but I'm not sure if this is the right environment for it. But then again, maybe it's the perfect environment for it.
My concerns are as follows...the two candidates will NOT be chosen because the majority of America is still patriarchal and racist, so by default we will get someone in office who doesn't deserve it, someone who's policies are very scary for women, the queer community, and social services. This is a very real possibility. Right now, women are starting to lose the ability to have abortions, social services and education are being drastically cut (and in some places obliterated all together) and the last thing we need is for a bunch of racist patriarchs to put someone in office regardless of their politics, but only because they don't bleed for seven days and not die and aren't "colored' (god what a horrible word!)
