Well, well, well.

In a country who is generally obsessed with all things Holocaust (and rightfully so, mind you), it is shocking when one learns about something like this:

Not shocked.

Not shocked that Gore, a recent American Vice President and who's documentary about a global catastrophe came out within the last couple years.... would garner more attention in the media and to the Nobel committee than an (admittedly important and heroic) little old woman who acted in bravery over sixty years ago.

That lack of attention isn't anti-semitic, as this Sheppard guy would like to hint at in his last sentence. It's not political, either. It's common sense that lazy journalists pick subjects to report on that everybody already knows something about -- it's called ratings. It has nothing to do with Gore's film being entirely factual or not, that he's a man, white, tall, rich or any other smokescreen reason this author might come up with.

Gore is part of the news cycle - and this woman is not, plain and simple. If these "journalists" have a problem with the facts in his film, fine - take issue with that and with the fact the Nobel committee chose him.

But if this Sheppard and Noyes (he's the link to the related article at the end of this one) want to preach about journalistic integrity, they'd better look in the mirror first.

It's their distain for Gore that causes them to hold up Ms. Sendler as some sort of "attention victim" in all this, not some great, deep respect for her or her accomplishments.

And by God, that's more of an insult to her than not mentioning her at all.

If these "journalists" Sheppard and Noyes had an ounce of genuine interest in the lack of coverage on Sendler's story, then shouldn't I expect to find an archive full of their long-winded devotions to her?? How many of their own articles are spent talking about Gore instead of other important people. That's exactly what they're complaining about here.

Done ranting. Thanks for the link, it was interesting to read!
